Geometric Abstraction
I frequently paint either in the style of Abstract Expressionism, or Geometric/Minimalist Abstraction. The work of Wassily Kandinsky, Fernard Leger, Robert and Sonia Delaunay, Joan Miro, Frank Stella and others had a major influence on my explorations in Geometric Abstraction and Minimalism. I consider Abstract Expressionism, Geometric Abstraction, and Minimalism as a unique genres. Simply stated, Abstract Expressionism is ultimately intuitive and spontaneous -even though before initiation of any action requires what can only be described as a visual meditative state. Alternately, Geometric Abstraction and Minimalism require intense preparation of a design before even beginning what is often meticulously focused, very careful, painting. Nevertheless, after long periods of painting abstract expressionist work I frequently turn to Geometric Abstraction and Minimalist painting to depict ideas and designs totally different from Abstract Expressionism. I also like to experiment with merging the three forms, thus some of the images from the Geometric Abstraction Gallery can be seen in the Abstract Expressionist Gallery and vice versa.
